The beaches on our doorstep are amongst the cleanest in Europe, warmed by the Gulf Stream they are perfect for paddling, snorkeling and swimming. There are spectacular walks in the area including one along the banks of Loch Morar, the deepest stretch of fresh water in Europe, and reputed home of Nessie’s sister Morag. Another short walk leads to “the Cross” which affords a panoramic view point with breathtaking outlook to the local hills and Loch Morar. If wildlife is your thing then there are plenty of opportunities for close sightings of whales, dolphins, sales, sharks, otters, puffins, golden eagles, sea eagles, shearwaters and much more. For golfers, the stunning 9 hole course at Traigh (pronounced Try) is just 5 minutes by car. If you like fishing then you will not be disappointed! There are plenty of spots to cast your rod however if you want to fish on Loch Morar you will need a permit. For a unique experience try pony trekking on Silver Sands of Morar!
